Wine is fun because of all the different varieties and production styles, as well as all the cool people who make the wines. Sometimes, you can see or even create trends in the market. Chenin Blanc, a white wine, and Cabernet Franc, a red wine, are both in this category. The nuances of Cabernet Franc in great wines made in Bordeaux are one thing, but on its own, the variety is uniquely compelling. Dark fruit, black and green pepper, and herb notes are often present in this variety. Chenin Blanc, with its tendency toward minerality and stone fruit, is equally compelling and unique based upon the region where it is grown. You will likely try something new and interesting tonight.
